Each year we sit back and think about what it is that makes us happy and brings closer to the reader. When push comes to shove, it's the parents and their athletes that pave the way for this magazine each month. They see the love and excitement in their athlete's eyes, and they want to share that love and excitement with the rest of the pole-vaulting world.
We take this mindset and amplify it towards our readers within our magazine, followers for social media, and how we interact with the sport. Every child deserves to be seen and heard within the pole vault community and our magazine. We like to say, no pole vaulter left behind unless they want to be left behind. Believe it or not, there are some that, for whatever reason, don't utilize what we have to offer, and that is fine. But when these kids have their most significant moment, highest vault, or best day, they tag #vaultermagazine or tag our account. We see this daily, and we help promote their big day. We love it, we take pride in it, and we make it our mission
These kids work hard, play hard, cry, study, and cry some more to get that break that they love the most. Pole Vault! Many times, we have had readers write to us and ask why we dedicate so much to the young athletes. They state that they are just living a fad or a high school sport that will most likely never participate in after they graduate. One reader also stated that we spend too much time on the aspects of the youth vaulter and what they have to offer. They couldn't be more wrong in this situation, and we have the proof to prove it. Vaulter Magazine is still here doing what we do best. So, something must be working, and we must be on to something. Invest in the youth, and when they grow and look back to their most fond years, they will see time and situation where pole vault made them happy. Life is so severe at times, and when you look back, some of your best times were spent during your carefree youthful years. Like they always say, the youth is our future. If we plan to have the sport of pole vault in the future, we better look to our youth.
So, there you have it, it's not about the pit company, the pole vault pole loyalty, the clicks, and the clubs. It's all about the sport of pole vault, the youth and what they bring to the competition. They shape what we do and how we interact with the community, and we love every minute of it.
Oh yea, this issue we write about a sweet masters meet, IAAF Worlds, and a cover story that you don’t want to miss.
